Central City, Colorado – Central City has become the third and final Colorado town to expand gambling.
Residents voted 212-16 in favor of increasing the amount of bets and allowing 24-hour gambling at casinos, with nine provisional votes to be counted Wednesday.
The measure also allows casinos in Central City to add craps and roulette and raise the stakes from USD 5 to USD 100.
Cripple Creek became the first of the state’s three gambling towns to increase bets and hours when voters there approved a similar measure in December. Black Hawk voters approved expanded gambling last week.
The local referendums are a product of a state constitutional amendment adopted with 60 percent of the statewide vote in November.
The changes take effect after July 1.
