The Betbull Group and FIFA subsidiary Early Warning System GmbH (EWS) have signed on October 10th, 2012 a cooperation agreement to protect the integrity of football. The agreement is based on a continuous and trustful cooperation for the early detection of suspicious activities in sport betting which can be an indicator for match-fixing on FIFA relevant sporting events.

When the FIFA World Cup kicked off in Germany on 9th June 2006 TV viewers saw not only a German team being in great shape against Costa Rica but they also watched on German TV betting advertising clips e. g. for the Austrian licensed and RTL owed sports betting company Starbet. Only one week after the kick off, the Starbet advertising was banned from TV due to a court order arguing with the German state monopoly on soccer betting. Als am 9. Juni 2006 in Deutschland zum Anstoß der FIFA Weltmeisterschaft gepfiffen wurde, konnten die Fernsehzuschauer beim Spiel gegen Costa Rica nicht nur die großartige Form des deutschen Teams bewundern, sondern sahen im deutschen Fernsehen auch Werbespots für Sportwetten, z. B. für Starbet, ein in Österreich lizensiertes, zu RTL gehörendes Wettportal. Nur eine Woche nach dem Anstoß war jedoch die Starbet-Werbung durch eine gerichtlichen Verfügung aus dem Fernsehen verbannt worden, unter Bezugnahme auf das deutsche Staatsmonopol bezüglich Fußballwetten.

Am 10.11.2008 fand in Zürich auf Initiative der FIFA ein Kongress zum Thema: „Sportwetten – Symbiose und Gefahren“ statt. FIFA-Präsident Blatter machte in seinem Eröffnungsbeitrag deutlich, dass mit sportlichen Veranstaltungen der menschlichen Natur gemäß auch Wetten auf deren Ausgang verbunden sind, und dass in der globalisierten Welt insbesondere der Fußball erhöhten Betrugsgefahren ausgesetzt ist. Wie diesen Gefahren effektiv begegnet werden kann, veranschaulichte Urs Scherrer, CEO der EWS (Early Warning System GmbH).

FIFA reiterated its warning on the illegality of the lotteries related to Football World Cup 2010, which circulate by e-mail, because it said it “has no links with any of them, it has not given an authorization and they are not related to the World Cup”. In a press release, FIFA, “recommends the public to distrust all type of e-mails related to money draws and urges not to bring any type of personal or financial information”.

As part of its efforts to protect the integrity of the game of football, FIFA has extended its early warning system for monitoring sports betting to take in the preliminary competition for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Early Warning System GmbH, a company founded specifically for this purpose with its own staff and offices in Zurich, has been contracted to undertake this task and started the relevant work on 1 July 2007.
